Are there any CW beacons to listen for [ as opposed to looking for at
qrss]

Dear Bryan, LF Group,

The only transatlantic signal that is readily audible is CFH, the RTTY-like
signal on 137.0k originating from Nova Scotia. This varies from inaudible to
S9+ depending on propagation. Unfortunately, amateur signals with ERP about
40 - 50dB down on CFH are rarely likely to be audible - I don't think anyone
has ever positively heard any of the transatlantic amateur signals,
allthough several of us were of the opinion that VE1ZZ was "nearly" audible
occasionally when he was active some time ago. Even then, he probably had
substantially more ERP than any of the North American beacons operating
recently.

Cheers, Jim Moritz
