HI All
I use insulated 2.5 mm wire lying on top of the
grass for my ground system in conjunction with my vertical. I have several of
these radials each one about 130 metres long fanned out around the base of a
vertical. This is the next best arrangement after an elevated radial system.
I thought about trying insulated multi core cable
as radials and putting the wires in series ie with a 7 core cable 130 metres
long I should theoritically have a 910 metre long radial. I tend to think in
practice this might not be the case, the return current might only see a
130 metre radial underneath the antenna structure, which consists of the
vertical and the horizontal wire.
Has anyone tried this arrangement on LF. I remember
reading something away back about using a two core cable, or coax and joing
the far end thereby increasing the length by a factor of 2.ie inner and outer of
coax in series.
