Hi everyone at LF,
Just purchased a TCXO module for my Yaesu FT747GX & what a remarkable
improvement to the frequency stability. After initial warm up (I usually
leave it for a couple of hours) the frequency drift is greatly reduced. No
longer does the trace go off the screen when I open the shack door & the
room temperature changes. The frequence accuracy is about 4 or 5 Hz low at
the moment (after warm up)which is maybe the best I can expect from the
FT747GX.
So a serious look for Joe VO1NA, Joe's signal was seen in the early hours of
this morning (06-10-2003) with two complete call signs seen between 0505 &
0630 utc, this is the first TA amateur signal seen on 136 Khz band. Looking
on earlier captures there is no trace of any signal.
The antenna is a G3LNP loop at 15 feet. I will now attempt to receive a
signal from Joe using my top loaded vertical & see how it compares with the
loop on receive.
The next step is to put some RF into it.
Regards & 73
