On the subject of the close of GBR, presumably the Govt. will be trying to sell
the site now. SO where is the MSF 60kHz transmission going to come from ?
Its use for 'official' time and frequency transfer will have greatly receded
with GPS doing a much better job now, and low(ish) cost crystal oscillators
that can do as well as off-air LF reception for frequency. But all that has
been replaced by the greater civilian use made of the transmission and the low
cost of time decoder chips and self setting clocks.
There would presumably be a huge public outcry, and probably some claims for
compensation, if the service were to stop, considering the number of MSF
controlled clocks around - even my mother has one on her sideboard now !.

I would like to try for a QSO on 73k over easter - don't think M0BMU has
worked GM on this band yet! Looking at the RSGB headlines, it would seem
that Rugby is likely to stay off forever...
