The centertap for varicap reference is seen connected to coax cable ground, so
it does work
but I am not certain if it is a point to use actual ground for the frame, it is grounded in
the shack via the RG59 cable, and this is put some times through a high-µ ferrit core, so
AC-wise it is not much ground, but DC-wise is OK (not sure if anything in the
shack is ground)

There is no hi-z amplifier on the tuned loop that can suffer from common
mode hum but you still need a low impedance DC path to GND for the
varicap bias, otherwise the ever-present 50Hz hum would wobble the
tuning with disastrous results.
