A short note for any home constructors.
Micrometals, producers of the popular T-200-2 and other toroids, have introduced a new series called the 200C series. As the name suggests, these cores can operate at very high flux densities and can run up to 200 degrees. The first two materials are the -60 and -70 with permeabilities of 55 and 100 respectively. These are described as "magnetic alloys" with properties similar to Iron powder. Toroids between 0.16 inch and 4 inches are being produced in addition to E cores and other formats. Other materials in the series are planned and these will have permeabilities >100 and <55. So if you're planning a winter dx-pedition and you fancy a cup of tea, just remember to bring a kettle and make sure your 200C cores are near the top of the transmitter. 73 David G0MRF |
