Hi all, a quick crude calucation from Ed's drawing suggests that the Rrad of
the aerial he was using could well have been in the order of 6 to 7 ohms.
This would result in an ERP of about 35 to 45 watts with 2.5 amp of aerial
current. So it is not surprising that he did not hear many of the calling
stations who were probably at least 20dB weaker. Maybe someone with the
right software could get a better estimate for the aerial.
All in all , a good effort and it certainly raised activity levels that
weekend.
