I suggest you take a look at the following URL- it is VERY inexpensive and

believe will do everything that you could possibly want.

There's a simple hardware design that should suit basic QRSS (but not Jason)
at http://www.wireless.org.uk/dds.htm , especially if you change to a proper
oscillator circuit. Add a varicap across the crystal and you can easily get
5Hz shift for FSK.
