Hi Mike,
Yes, I think you are right about the "Luxemburg effect" at the top of our
band, being the main source of the noise that disappears at dawn. I have
always assumed that it is modulation of DBF39 by broadcast stations. It is
not really intelligible, so I was going to use a second receiver to see if I
could match it with BBC 4 or other strong European stations, but haven't got
round to it yet.

When I monitored Jack's signal overnight on the 1st of Feb, I did see a
reduction of noise at 06.20, but it was much less marked than when
monitoring 137.790.
