It's interesting, one step closer and I await Mal's response with
trepidation !!!!!! (hi)

Hello David.
Surely everyone presently connected with LF operations knows that the
only way
to claim an award for a qso is for both parties, one at each end to
communicate directly with one another on a given amateur band.
Why are some trying to suggest or twist this established practice. They
must be desperate for some sort of recognition even to the extent of
bending the
rules as they go along.
Involving a third party in a qso is certainly not valid regardless of
the circumstances. The next step will be someone inventing a qso that
never
really took place chancing their arm and getting carried away with
imagination,
guesswork and over enthusasism.
To be fair, credit must go to those that persevere every night, trying
to make a two way qso on 136 khz to the USA/Canada and some are
achieving very
good results and I hope they make it ultimately, but stick to the
established
rules.

I can see why some G3 and G4 old timers are rushing, maybe they think
time is running out!!!!!!!!!!!!! In fact over excitement and late
sleepless nights could bring about premature expiry.
Beware !!!!!!!!!!!
I stick to office hours to prolong life, hopefully. Being first is not
important, after a few months when it becomes routine, no one will
remember who was first anyway. Can anyone remember off hand who made the
first 160 m
qso across the pond, or the first on 6 metres and who cares!!!!!!!!!!
I am surprised that no one has suggested an OSCAR award for the first
across on WOBBLE mode.

Well done on some lateral thinking.

John. How's reception in the presence of CFH and, as Mike asked earlier in
the week, are you and Jack planning another combined effort from Jack's QTH
for a 2 way attempt?
