Greetings:

Not good news, summer static is quite high, we have thunderstorms south or
south west of us it seems. DCF39 is not strong either.

Back to prayer for a nice X class flare, quickly......

Hi Larry.
CFH suddenly appeared at 1021 utc this morning for about 30 minutes. It was
about S2 roughly, no accurate measurements.
You never know what is likely to happen out of the blue. We need to be looking
out all the time for an opportunity.
I am active nearly every day on the 136 khz band and sometimes up pops CFH
during daytime and is audible for quite some time then it disappears just as
quickly.
I expect when this happens there is the possibility for those suitably equipped
to make a translantic qso, especially during the winter period when CFH is
roaring in here most of the time, day and night.

During the test period I will be at my GI location and have been offered
another site NW Ireland,
this site is literally on the beach at Castlerock, looking directly across to
you. The antenna would be a mobile tower on a trailor at about 120 ft high with
suitable antennas. Further up the coast at Magilligan and accessible is a
cliff face about 500 feet directly above the beach. Antennas suspended from the
top and pulled out diagonally down to the beach below would be ideal plus the
radial system could be immersed in the sea. This array would be facing towards
you. With this sort of effort I would probably need some help and might be able
to arrange something. The tower arrangement is alright for a one man job but
the cliff adventure is something different.
My main qth in N.Ireland is inland about 62 Km S of Castlerock. There is
already a 120 ft mast installed with a suitable shack, this might be perfectly
suitable without heading to the coast. I could be operational from there within
minutes hi. I will try this in the first instance for the tests and if it does
not work then I will have to head to the coast.
I will be running around 1w erp out and if that fails then I understand a
permit would be issued for up to 100w erp.
This information I hope will give you some idea of possibilities at this end
and allow you to make some calculations. There will be lots of others
interested around Europe in these tests and will have something to offer.
The strongest signal around Europe currently is MM0ALM/Dave located near
Aberdeen/Scotland.

EMAIL but is aware of your proposed transatlantic II and very keen to be
involved and is available anytime for tests.

It sounds exciting and I hope it all materialises.
