David, G0MRF, requested reports on their
signal from their Hastings beach location. So I set-up my measuring
equipment.
G0MRF/G4KLF certainly had a nice signal
but not as strong as I had expected. Perhaps power was lost in the rock, that
being in the near field.
Reception at their location seemed to be
better on Sunday than on the previous day when only the strongest stations from
the continent, like DJ9IE and ON6ND, were answered. Sunday the lesser ones also
got a chance.
All in all a commendable effort to obtain
hands-on experience as amateurs using aerials in unusual situations. And that is
what our hobby is about, isn't it?
