Due to the 'long weekend' of 13-16 may my weekend report covers this period.
Lot of activity and despite heavy QRN often very good night condx.
This weekend I noticed once more that I have very different propagation to
the I5 region (IK5ZPV, I5MXX) compared to the UK. While several UK stations
can work the I5's with rather good signals in the morning I do only hear
them (the I5's) very weak or even not at all. But at night I heard both
IK5ZPV and I5MXX with extreme strong signals (up to 589), best time seems
to be 20-22UT.
I should check the propagation path between I5 and me in detail but I think
that the Alps form an obstruction and skywave propagation is needed to get
over it. Maybe toward the UK the path just 'misses' the Alps.
