Hi Hugh, just a thought, but old fashioned telephone engineers used to use coils for loading lines (the ubiquitous 88mH comes from this era) For outside use they were often sealed in an iron pot fill

Hi Hugh, The "pot-core" was a very characteristic name for former round ferrite types 18 x11, 26 x 16 etc. Because of "butterfly" style of R and RM cores it is better not to call them as pot-cores. S
