Hi Stefan,

WSPR - no, timing and frequency spacing won't fit what u-blox can do.

Well, unless we defined a new "WSPR-3" submode, using exactly 1 second symbols and 1 Hz tone spacing. Thinking again, maybe it's not such a bad idea in some respects…

Hi Markus,

Snow-rain here, not the most inviting climate for outdoor experiments, although i would like to climb the tree to repair my VLF E-field :-)

I just thought about your latest tool and wonder if it is possible to do the same for WSPR-2 or WSPR-15, all without a transceiver or upconverter or the whole dial stuff ;-) It would be comfortable and power saving. So much can be done...

Thanks Stefan and Michel (F5WK) for your excellent reports!

The residual phase variation was surely from the antenna moving in the wind. I haven't been using the automatic tuner, and also did some manual tweaking near the beginning. Interestingly Michel's phase trace was a perfect copy of yours.

The exciter and 250 W PA are the same as in my usual LF setup, except that the feed from the SSB exciter has been replaced by the TP2 output from the GPS device, connected through 470 ohm and a piece of coax. The LEA-6T module came from Hongkong for 27 € and is very similar to the one described here
http://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/ebay-u-blox-lea-6t-gps-module-teardown-and-initial-test/

I am now repeating the same pair of transmissions at 0:00 and 0:30 UT, but moved to 137545 Hz to fit inside Jay's narrowband recording.

Hi Markus,

Great work! It seems to work well. There are some dynamic changes in the phase. Would you think it is propagation?
So this is a Windows solution without the need to use an upconverter. Let's see if this will help to make the mode more popular, or not.
How did you connect the module to the PA, which kind of exciter? I would know how to do it, just beeing curious...

Think I have tamed my u-blox LEA-6T module well enough, so will try to send an EbNaut test this afternoon:

Frequency 137536 Hz,
Start times: 13:00 and 13:30 UT,
6 char, 3 sec symbols,  8k19A, crc 16.

Experimental scripts to control the timepulse-2 output are at
http://df6nm.bplaced.net/LF/u-blox_ebnaut/
and I intend to explain some details later this weekend.
