Last night my incredibly poor system managed to copy 20 unique stations on 472kHz WSPR. Best was N1BUG at 4940km. This is nothing compared with the incredible work being done at VLF.

However, it may encourage others. My antenna is just the coax outer to my 2m big-wheel antenna. This antenna is about 4m above ground. The coax is at most 10m long and a lot of it is just 0.5m above the ground. The ATU is a ferrite rod on the bench in the shack. My ground is a mains plug and one ground rod. My RX is just the FT817 which is starting to get deaf at 472kHz.

Don't EVER say you cannot RX on 472kHz!
