Mother Nature was busy Thursday night. She reoriented a 15m tower from vertical to horizontal; 3 guys were severed. This tower supported the far end of the big rotated L aerial which is now sadly lying on the ground. The VLF aerial was partally lowered after the nylon hayard had been neatly fused when insulator arced with the snow. It's amazing what kilovolts can do even at the 30 watt level. The mains went out twice on Friday morning. SL was restarted 0230 and 0500.I've put another insulator in series on the VLF aerial to protect the halyard and am using the tower for the MF transmissions. Thanks to Paul and Roelof for the VLF/MF reports and the group for the enlightening discussion. 73 Joe VO1NA |
