Regarding the 10 dB signal strength difference, this are normal
fading figures that can often be noticed on T/A signals.
All night stable propagation is rare.
See the attached overnight plot of NDB QY-263, Sydney, CAN NS at
4554 km. This one also shows deep fading at the time.
