Markus,

Maybe it is another effect that no one has observed until now: At night, the distance between Heidelberg and Nürnberg seems to be shorter, about 0.5 lambda on 5170 Hz. Genial! :-)

Despite constant transmit antenna current, my signal level on Stefan's grabber dropped very significantly over the hours between midday and evening. This may be the day-night effect again: As the distance between Heidelberg and Nürnberg (178 km) is shorter than Heidelberg to Amberg (230 km), the skywave is steeper and the extra path relative to groundwave is about 20% longer. Thus a similar diurnal effect may now happen at lower frequency.

Since 11:46 UT I'm transmitting a carrier on 5170.0025 Hz, antenna current 0.21 A into approx. 8 m effective height. It looks like nice peaks are building up on the grabbers in Heidelberg and Amberg.
