I can blame that  on the  icom  .  thats  where  the  cw  auto net stopped   stopped ... bands just  end to  end  with nose , shows S9 on the  s-meter
day  time propagation is quite  good , but  rx is  marred with  noise ..

I was actually on 473.200 kHz
It was well away from the calling channel and seemed a clear frequency (from here).

bad choice frequency, BIA is at 474kHz, and has sidebands on 473 and 475
