I was thinking of a stationary bicycle as the Australian outback
farmers were reputed to use in order to call the Flying Doctor.
(That's from an old Home Service program probably called "The
Flying Doctor". I can't seem to receive the Home Service these days,
strange). Using an ordinary bike I suspect transmission would cease
each time a pub was passed.

Hugh, Good idea, but you would need to cycle round the

Good, now if it was using a battery with a solar panel or a
bicycle generator that would be unbeatable!
