G3KEV -I could not agree more. We are very privileged to have the RSBB to guard Ham radio for us. I am doing my own ELF and LF experiments, and have found a good Tesla ELF antenna design that transmits a 1.6 Hz signal around the globe that can be seen on magnetometers. This antenna will soon be tested on Long Wave on 162 kHz, sometime after Allouis (France) has closed. I really cannot understand why Long Wave broadcasting will soon be gone in the UK with its amazing coverage. I would like to see the free access to all on the now soon to be empty Long Wave Broadcast band -as is now permitted in the USA. Could that become possible here? This would encourage much more LF experimenting, and also would be very useful when a disaster occurs. I think this is why the USA now allows this additional LW use -many interested in LF people, in known locations would be available to 'draw on' when the unthinkable occurs. Could the RSGB push this LW use for us forward here in the UK too? The USA is very very wise to now have their Hams plus all the additional LW enthusiast in place and ready for the worst!!
