Something strange happened on LF around the same time: Looking at the WSPR spectrogram, I happened to notice a marked noise increase for about eight minutes around 19:15 UT. It is visible as a purple strip on two grabber screenshots:

The noise band was caused by an unusually intense Luxembourg effect, with a pair of strong VLF stations (GQD and DHO) acting as a ionospheric heaters, impressing their difference frequency onto the DCF39 carrier:

138.83 - (23.4 - 22.1) kHz =  137.53 kHz

Best 73,
Markus (DF6NM)

Hello Clemens,

There certainly was an opening to Asia last night.
At 19:28 UTC, I logged a NAVTEX station from Malaysia on 518 kHz
over a distance of 10.015 km.

Roelof, pa0rdt
