The carrier has been switched off at 10:00 UT.
The phase from the Rubidium-derived syntheszier was stable all the time, and the
antenna current remained constant within a couple of percent. Radiated
power is estimated around 10 µW, although the lower temperature of the
surrounding vegetation may have helped a bit on the effective
height.
Good signals appeared on three
VLF grabbers
The signal in Heidelberg
was good at night and went down in daylight, while OK2BVG experienced the
opposite behavior. This has been seen before and is expected from the
superposition of groundwave and ionospheric components at different ranges. As
far as I can see, fieldstrength at Todmorden was relatively constant
throughout the night, but dropped sharply around sunrise.
I am sorry that my LF grabber is
pretty much unusable during these VLF transmissions, due to noise from
partial discharges around the loading coil.
All the best,
Markus (DF6NM)

Subject: 8270 carrier
To get a bit better idea on possible winter
nighttime opportunities, I've started an unmodulated carrier on
8270 since 0:17 UT. Antenna current is 0.31 A . Will leave it on for
a couple of hours if nothing goes wrong.
All the best,
Markus
