Hi all,Some more progress in the remote project. I've got a (mechanically) stable link to the institute now and actually transferred some data. The data rate is still low. Some bearing optimisations /fine adjustments of antenna will follow. But it works! Next step is the solar charger and then the Raspi, remote linked...Some imaginations which could be inspiring for some to leave the shack... https://www.dropbox.com/sh/z37q97r0yrsd99n/AABCr0FRW8GLEAVh4lWZN4OXa?dl=0 (please don't make public in the web) 73, Stefan Am 04.09.2014 20:50, schrieb LZ: Hi Stephan,... Sorry, this is mostly OT but i know there are a few OMs interested in remote sites for VLF/LF/MF bandsOff topic? Don't think so.and this may be useful for them and so for us, if they will realise a similar project. ...Agreed. Question: anyone out there having some experiences running the "Wolfson-Card" on the Raspberry-Pi? I'm experimenting with thin-clients running M-Audio 192 sound card. Working fine, but 2 Amps at 12 Volts is not easy to achieve running 24/7. From many hours of simulation based on available statistics, maps of average solar and wind budgets (Geordieland, Benelux, Germany etc.) I came to what follows. ~20 Watts, 24/7: (Thin-Client, sound card, USB-WiFi, shadowing, losses etc.) Batteries:>200 Ah + Solar panels:>100 Watts, ~40 deg. of inclination, S + Wind power:>100 Watts at 12 knots avg., ~20ft agl Frustrating but not breaking down my B/S (°_°) Laura Sent from my RatRacePhone |
