Hi Jay yes speculation it is but it is interesting to check where the shadow is at 100km altitude when the sig comes in. There is also the possibility of an E-region hop followed by a D-region hop. The last is unlikely to my mind as D-region hops are much more highly attenuated by the photo-dissociated electrons and towards late afternoon as the solar angle decreases the attenuation increases. But its all hypothetical, as far as I am concerned :-))

Good Luck with it all.

Success with two of the four transmission periods last night - early and late. Had you been transmitting at 2300Z we probably would have had another decode. 2200Z might be a little early right now.

As we head into mid winter conditions keep in mind earliest reception of T/A signals have occured here (from well equipped transmitting stations like CT1DRP, DF6NM etc) around 2045Z (1545 EST) - well before local sunset. Alan has speculated this may be single hop. We may be able to push that time back a bit with OP Deep Search. Also looking forward to possible reception of more distant stations ... particularly Russian stations.
