Raining here also.

Twice the huge 4WD starter battery that runs my e-probe has been found to be discharged this winter despite the Solar Panel, now, with the sun we have had that is just not right.
A few checks with the meter this morning revealed that instead of 13.8V from the Voltage regulator I had 12V, so the battery supplied the power until flat and never got a charge.
A 'ceramic' capacitor had gone short circuit in the regulator control cct., due I suspect to the damp environment in my shed.
Recently I read about some 'ceramic' caps said to be made of "moulded mud". The brown disc caps I used in the regulator when broken open resemble, yes, moulded mud, like an unbaked brick and absorbent.
I just hope the battery has not died having been drained below 10V now twice.
