Ok Marcus

Yes its  probably   the  sdr  playing  tricks  .. shortly   after  , I found   reception  under 500  was  'odd   , so   re installed the  software , I did  check with the  twent  web sdr  , nothing  was  showing  , so  its  possibly  a  ghost  from hf

Its one of the  rtl  dongels  , wired direct sample , looking  at the Tx Ae  via the 477  atu ,  works  quite  well  (most of the  time)  especially  as there  is  a  MW   Tx  not too  far  away

There  was a  wide  data  signal  covering  the  lower end  502/504   for  some  time  in the  past ... this  was quite a  fast  transition , that  'gap' took  only  a  few  seconds  to  pass  right to  left , not  fading ?  , some  characteristic   of the  tx  ?

Hi Graham,

what's the timescale on your SDR# screen? To my eyes the selective fading looks way too fast for MF. Might be some samplerate alias from an HF transmission. Are you using RTL in direct sampling mode, bypassing the tuner - any prefilters?

Best 73,

Some  sort  of  wide  band  data  system ?  and  short  bursts   above the  band

or  is this  the  sdr  playing  tricks
