Yes, you are correct. I have connected input to the
"mic" socket & I now have waterfall OK.
Fortunately the external sound card has a
level control for "mic" (& speakers) so is easy to
adjust.

I haven't tried any waterfall adjustments, the
display is a bit dark on mine and on the Grabs from G6AVK signal traces of
what is visible on Speclab do produce a line though. The program may need a
bit more audio in than most. I like to use the FFT display a signal shows
up as bump which can be clicked on to set the frequency and then the AFC takes
over.
