Hi Uwe / LF

I am not leaving my Grabber http://www.g3zjo.talktalk.net/vlfgrabber.htm on 24/7 these days. I am following your test during my waking hours. :-)
Due to this I am just using the DFCW6000 424uHz set up. Today produced a very nice line, one of the best days.

When the RX is off the Grabber displays the last RX period.

Thanks for the signal.

Hello Peter and Markus,

I like playing around with the Todmorden grabber site.

when I first saw all the gaps in  the trace at 8970.0225Hz I was somewhat  horrified;
did the TX switch off and on that often?

no, it was permanent on the air as shown by Peters and Lubos grabbers.

changing the rcv direction of the Todmorden aerial I found the gaps filled.
p.e., when switching from the should be 80dgr to 70dgr the gap at abt 1700UTC
the 7th of this month filled,
but others came up of course.

seems the reflecting clouds are found off the line btwn RX and TX stn too sometimes.
the distance btwn my location and Todmorden is 765km.

Peter,

This depends on distance, frequency and the diurnal variation of ionospheric height (the ceiling of the waveguide), resulting in constructive or destructive superposition of groundwave and one-hop skywave.  9 kHz propagation between Stefan and myself (also about 180 km) exhibited the same minimum at noon. On the other hand, 400 km to OK or OE were usually best around midday.

Hello Uwe, VLF
I did try to find the signal maximums since ~3 Feb.
Here they are...

06h17  15h40
?????   16h20
0730    17h38
?????   16h00

The ???? are because there was interference or sort of.
Looks like there are some maximums around sunrise and sunset.

Around 12 h UTC the signal is the weakest in my oppinion.

Hi dreamers,

the TX was off from abt 1230UTC until 1440UTC today because
1)      my XYL was working in the greenhouses (metal framed) and
2)
I took the advantage repairing the aerial (one of the anchorage ropes didn’t stand the sparks).
