Hmm I just found an email (to this group) from Andy G4JNT, dated 17 jan 2013.
w.r.t the AD9850 and WSPR-15 he writes the following:

Incidently, the low cost AD9850 DDS modules with their 125MHz clocks
do not have good enough frequency resolution at 0.029Hz. You'll need
to replace the clock with one running at a lower frequency. 10MHz
would be a good choice as that will allow easy upgrade to a higher
spec reference later.
But your experiments proved otherwise.
Andy (if you’re reading this), do you have information on the maximum allowed frequency and timing deviations for WSPR(2/15)? The Internet has failed me Sad smile

Hi Marcus,

That’s good to hear. So it seems that WSPR is more forgiving than the documentation suggest and I expected (giving the tone separation with a 4 digit accuracy...)

Hi Minto,

I recently tried the same device for a local WSPR 15 test and had the same concern about DDS step size, but it decoded ok immediately.

I am currently TX-ing WSPR-15 @ 472800..
Just finished WSPR-15 programming in my PIC controlled AD9850 + 100W TX
'Normal' WSPR works fine (got lots of spots today) but with a tone
separation of only 0.1831 Hz for WSPR-15 the error in FSK tone separation is
nearly  5%:
Minimum stepsize of the AD9850 = 125.000.000 / (2^32) = 0.0291 Hz. 6 *
0.0291 = 0.1746 Hz in stead of 0.1831 = -4.6% too low

We'll see.
