Hi Graham :-))......I seem to remember the original keyer on GB3VHF was a disc with pegs in which acted as cams closing a pair of contacts, with the disc driven by a small synchronous motor.

Well nothing  too  serious ,  Marconi   auto alarm -m had a  machined  cam with the  call  sign  machined  round the  edge  ?
I like the  idea of a  round  train track  , with the  right  foil  lengths   could  send Opera

Except it is not a new design!! This how Samual envisaged that messages would be sent! It only a little later that ops became adept at hand forming of the codes and even later reading the inker clacks by ear. Prob over 150 years too late :-))
