With just the 2 x 1m long earth rods 15m apart in the soil (no pipe or mains 
connection) and essentially nothing in the air between them, and with very low 
mW ERP, I've just been copied by DL-SWL at 701km on 472kHz WSPR. SM6BHZ and 
DK7FC are decent copy on RX as are lots of others. Experiment ends in the 
morning but what a result! 

Someone, please, give me a credible explanation why this works SO well.
