The PA does not like reactive power when running on the limit. The arcs become stronger until they limit themselfe, due to the detuning(detuning -> leaving the resonance peak = falling voltage), as long as you don't have an automatic variometer like i do on LF. With an automatic variometer you can hold the peak and run maximum power all the time, in nearly all conds, even if a few dozen birds take place on the wire :-))

Hi all,

In jo43sv it is snowing and raining.

the TX ant and other metal things in the yard show pretty colorful arcs.

but the PA doesn’t like it. In five minutes rhythm it switches it self off and on.

so I will put it out of its misery and will announce the beginning of the newly on the air time.

Hi Uwe,

Have you been QRV last night, arround 0 UTC? I have a horizontal line on the right QRG at that time, not to strong but visible.

Hi Peter,

yes, its my TX.

when I switched it on I found the ant completely detuned – after several months since the last tests.

I didn’t change anything.

but the environment has been modified: I took down two huge trees – one five m and the other 10m off the wires.

makes two kHz up.

your grabber, the one of Lubos/OK1bvg and Todmorden/UK  shows the signs.

the carrier is not permanent ZOA because I have to switch the TX off when repairing the fence.

night times an “X” is transmitted, mode qrss3600.

Thanks for the VLF grabbers.
