ALL
At the moment , 'we' have 2
beacon systems and 3 QRG ,
one combined in the new 477 band
and 2 in the existing 500 allocation.
With the advent of the new 477 band and
two beacon systems in operation , able to
share the same operating 'dial set' frequency
and sound-card resource ...Its may be reasonable,
now, to re locate the WSPR frequency
to 500.000 KHz dial set
usb , to enable dual monitoring of the
two systems ?
As the USA is no longer using
WSPR on the existing frequency , there is no longer
the possibility of TA reports
500 activity is now tending to the middle 502
upwards with qrss beacons etc in the
lower section
As 477 Has become the qrg , dial set usb for
both WSPR and OPERA , enabling dual watch , I
would suggest , for the reminder of the 500
allocation , that 500.000 KHz , be used for
both WSAP and OPERA
DUAL WATCH
In a quick test , running WSPR and
Opera ( W/Fall -off- ) using a 'old'
Intel P4 3.8 GHz p/c cpu usage on
average of 15 %.
(note the Opera waterfall plays no part in
the system performance and is for indication only)
Q Can anyone see any problems
with this re-alignment on 500 KH z ?
NEW QRG WSPR + OPERA
500.000 KHz usb-dial-set
477.000 KHz usb-dial-set
