I still have my 73 Khz NOV although expired, and
could be active within a couple of hours if it was renewed.
The problem at present is not enough occupancy on
the existing LF/MF bands, another allocation on 73 Khz would make matters
worse.
A good many contributers here on this reflector
have never been heard or seen on these bands.
In the early days of 73 most were content to work
locally and my best DX qso was GI strong signals each way, then the 137 Khz
allocation became a distraction, most diverted to that band. Just when
things began to hot up again on 73 and stations improved their efficiency the
NOV was withdrawn.
73 Khz with 1W erp had a lot of DX
potential probably better than 137.
