I've gone back to the 5m high vertical with 28Mhz halo as top capacity loading and signal levels with M0BMU are higher than anything seen last winter (-5, -6dB S/N). Antenna current suggests ERP is now near 2mW for the first time ....QRO for me! It would be great to get a few more reports this evening from around the UK and Europe. Incidentally, the difference between the earth electrode antenna and the vertical on 500kHz is around -18dB in the best direction as far as I can tell. If I can make a small 4-6mH loading coil (not sure if a ferrite rod LW coil will do at 2W?) I may give this a try on 136kHz with the QRSS3 beacon in a few days' time. 73s Roger G3XBM -- http://g3xbm-qrp.blogspot.com/ http://www.g3xbm.co.uk http://www.youtube.com/user/g3xbm G3XBM GQRP 1678 ISWL G11088 |
