Hi Roger,
You were asking about small canned inductors for the RX input tuned circuit. Several 'locals' have built the pre-amp by EA4EOZ, this uses two modified IF yellow small cans and works very well. The mod is quite straightforward and might suit your requirements. Take a look at his circuit at http://ea4eoz.ure.es/lfpream.html and you will see. If you decide to use this idea and can't find the inductors, drop me an e-mail, I have several spares and will send you a couple.
