I too see an Autumn / Winter project coming up with some non black box, home brew QRPp Data Modes, Underground Wombling on 137kHz.

That's encouraging Jim. 589 on CW translates to a very decent signal on WSPR or QRSS. I shall have to give 137kHz a try, even using the ground electrode system here, which is getting a lot of exercise on various bands right now from 0.8kHz to 500kHz!

137kHz definitely is coming "onto my radar" as an upcoming project. Something good to get my teeth into for the autumn and winter.

Antenna is a 7m wire to earth electrode (freshly watered!), braid to house earth.   Report from G3XIZ was 589 (3km).

 

Power output is low around 20w into antenna and I;m guessing microwatts out of the antenna.
