Taking a listen when I arrived home from work, there is only one chain
audible, probably from the Nantucket site, which is nearest. Had not
heard that sound in years! At a former employer's site, we used to check
calibration on a secondary frequency standard by simply injecting 100
kHz from a divider chain into a simple receiver. You could follow the
resulting beat aurally, or with much greater accuracy, with the s-meter.
If memory serves, this was back in the mid-1970's. When the dual-rated
operation started from Nantucket, this simple approach was no longer
possible.

Dear LF,
this evening, there were two good traces from Port Clarence here. Both
ended around 19:50, so it looks like the Americans are really shutting
down Loran-C. The east coast chains (5930 7270) are still on, probably
because of Canadian participation. Caribou and Nantucket seem to be
singlerated now as 9960 has not appeared with 5930.
