Interesting question, the answer to which by default now appears to be
'yes' After having a Concorde moment in the run up to the IMD event where
the arrl told there chaps , they could not communicate with a uk satiation
transmitting on 500 , as it wasn't licensed, it turned out that in fact usa
stations transmitting on 500 could not communicate the other way round as
they where not licensed.. vo1mrc called us on 3566 in reply to 502 cw
cq call
The rational being that uk 500 stations already hold full uk licences and as
such are operating with an extension to there existing license as in the
original vlf permit, the 6 mtr variation , 5 meg experiment , asking the
same question 2 years ago may of evoked a differing response, , however
things have move on.
Cw has been the main cross band:-
3566 reply
7033 is also used , (kev -Moscow )
Data im not sure I have had one cross band qso with wspr/qso mode to
160 mtrs
And some cross band qso's with Gary , but ive not seen any other activity
as such.

A few of the SOTA crowd have started taking an interest in 500kHz since
I mentioned it on their reflector. Some have been listening and hearing
people. Are there any restrictions on making cross-band contacts (say
80m-500kHz)? That seems like a good way to get a few people interested.
