One way to help overcome QSB on LF/MF/HF is to increase the RF power. Most of the QRP acty on these bands suffers badly from QSB whereas the medium and high power stations over come it most of the time.
This is one reason why it would be better if we had more permitted power on 500 khz.
100 watts erp was considered low power in the marine service, applicable mostly to emergency and standby transmitters. The main ship transmitters had around 1kw -  2kw available, using a 4cx1500 tube, 2 x 4-400 tubes, 4 - 6 x 4cx250 tubes and a variety of others in the PA stage.
