There is a constant whining sound when tuning over the band. My guess is that it's a local plasma TV, CFL, switch mode PSU or something similar. I have tried switching everything else off in my own house to no avail. David,with many modern electronic devices switching it "off" just put it in a stand-by modus, often keeping the switched PSU running.
