500 KHZ
When 500 khz was allocated to radio amateurs I
thought the band would be swamped with ex commercial Radio Officers, martine and
aeronautical, this is obviously not the case apart from a couple of us.
What has gone wrong ?
Some years back there was a request for a freq slot
for ex marine Radio Officers, who are better qualified than any radio
amateur, but this was refused, so a lot of talent and experrience faded
away, instead an appliance operator cagegory was introduced. A wealth of
experience has been lost apart from the tales about searfaring and flying
days.
