That's a problem with single conversion rx's when
they are working near the IF frequency or a bit of mains hum on the local
oscillator that can give the same problem , usually a heater cathode leak in
the tube or a dry electrolyitic on the screen feed, might be a mirophonic
valve, try turning the cooling fan off ?
