Hi all
My observations over this past year on 500 khz indicate that it is vy
similar to 1800 khz ( 160m) for propagation, vy variable from one day to
the next, daytime and night time variations and bad qsb at times, on the
other hand 137 khz propagation seems more consistant especially around EU.
Daytime and night time signals often are much the same.On the long haul
N.America signals are generally only audible/visible during night time, but
if one was running considerable more power perhaps these signals would be
audible daytime as well. On LF power output is more important for consistant
sighnals than the higher frequencies.
I often get the same reports daytime fm EU on 137 as night time and vice
versa, although the noise increases during the dark hours.
137 khz is mostly deserted these days. All the acty at present seems to be
on Beacon mode on 500 khz.
