Gid-day all...Yes low long wire work very well if
you have the space..In my tests of lf which go back 15 years with special
permit i carried out reception tests with 1000ft on foot hills to west of timaru
next to the estate of late lord elworthy who was head of raf uk .thepickup of
beacons and quietness directivity etc most effective...variants of that of
only 100ft of wire 2or 3 ft above ground also..u must drive long pipe into
ground each end and use capacitive or inductive means to couple..2 wires at
right angles and 4 pipes and switch directivity..that was tried by several lf
hams...lots of tricks to use on lf ...first lf transmissions in timaru
100years ago by a tech school boy who jammed out the british navy war ships in
our port..their xtal sets wernt selective hihi..the brits pounced on him
he had a spark tx fed into a disused telephone wire...he became a ham..i started
off as school boy ham from that school 58years ago...sorry to bore u
