Propagation can be so different and a bit confusing
on lf untill you get the hang of it...180khz odd there is a constant battle
between groundwave and skywave after sunset ..when the sky wave is in
phase or additive to ground wave sigs can be really good...skywave out of phase
can and does completly cancel sigs and zero copy..the process in zl the phase
cycle can vary from 5 to 20mins...clasic path between timaru and wellington
northisland sigs up the coast during daylight are constant and usable ssb and
cw real time morse that is..inland hams located central otago here no
ground wave on lf from wellington..but come sunset and the reflective layers are
working on 180khz in comes good signals..but on sea coast sigs either come
stong or disappear altogether from wellington...luck of the
dice all interesting fun though ...whose got an antennae
that can split sky wave from ground wave ?? george
