Many thanks Jim and Dave,

I'll QSP comments on to Adrian as he is not on the reflector but phones me occasionally.
He is in fact building a small active receiving loop so should improve his RX capabilities.

This seems a most strange band.
Jim and I have QTH's which are quite close yet he gives G3AQC better reports than I do and I receive G4GDR better than he does - odd !

I have given Adrian calls in the past and he has obviously not heard
me (and Bracknell to Swindon is not that far). I have also many times
heard others having QSOs on top of him (G3VTT and G3XAQ were having a
ragchew on top last night). Adrian is a good 589 signal here.

Maybe he also needs to look at his receiver, as do some others. It
also shows the pitfalls of being crystal controlled on a narrow band.
