Hi Gary -

I've got a Yaesu FT847 - it covers all bands top band to 70cms but it is both deaf and low power on 4m. There is a simple mod listed on the web for increasing the output power (actually the problem is very low efficiency - only 10 watts for 17 amps dc !! - the mod is supposed to increase the efficiency). I believe the poor Rx sensistivity is due to routing the 4m sigs via the 6m filters. Some folk use a pre-amp. The Rx is also deaf at 136 kHz !!

I think I've got the website listed somewhere - I'll dig it out if you want to take the idea further.

Hi All,

Sorry for the "off topic" subject. Just curious at the moment if anyone
knows if there is any HF/VHF/UHF multi-mode transceiver has or can be modded
to Tx/Rx on the 70MHz/4 metre band.
